Neighborhood Funding Oklahoma, L.L.C., an affiliate of Neighborhood Housing Services Oklahoma (NHSOKLA), is the recipient of a $125,000 technical assistance grant from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Fund (CDFI Fund).
The CDFI Program invests in and builds the capacity of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) to serve low-income people and underserved communities lacking adequate access to affordable financial products and services. Technical Assistance awards provide seed capital that enables uncertified organizations to successfully secure certification as a CDFI.
“CDFI Fund’s Technical Assistance Awards play a vital role in building the capacity of startup and existing CDFIs and, ultimately, increase the impact of the capital and credit they deploy in distressed and underserved communities,” said CDFI Fund Director Jodie Harris.
Founded in 1981, NHSOKLA is a nonprofit community development organization that specializes in financial counseling and affordable homeownership. The NHSOKLA mission is to increase the availability of affordable, safe housing options for those with low-to-moderate incomes and to provide assistance to those who wish to become homeowners through a variety of programs, such as housing counseling, down payment assistance, and homebuyer education.
“This technical grant opens up financial opportunities to many Oklahomans who want to become homeowners by providing new financial products to meet their needs,” said Roland Chupik, Executive Director, Neighborhood Housing Services Oklahoma.
