Join Neighborhood Housing Services Oklahoma (NHSOKLA) and Neighborhood Title for an informative, hands-on workshop designed to help homeowners and families create a plan for protecting and preserving their family home for future generations.

During the Family Home Legacy Plan session, participants will learn how to:

Understand who is listed as the legal owner of their property

Identify important deeds, title records, tax documents, insurance information, and estate-planning documents

Understand what families should do when a homeowner dies

Learn about Transfer on Death Deeds and other issues to discuss with a qualified legal professional

Recognize potential heirs-property and unclear-title concerns

Organize a Family Home Legacy File with important property and family records

Prepare a 30-, 60-, and 90-day action plan when property issues need to be resolved

Identify important conversations to have with family members before a crisis occurs

Know when to seek assistance from title, legal, tax, or other qualified professionals

Participants will receive a Family Home Legacy Plan Workbook with worksheets, checklists, property-research tools, and a personalized action plan to help organize their next steps.

Do you know whose name is actually on the deed to your home? Do you know where to find your property records—or what those records mean?

Join Neighborhood Housing Services Oklahoma (NHSOKLA) and Neighborhood Title for a practical, hands-on workshop designed to help homeowners and families better understand property ownership, title, deeds, and how to begin researching their own property.

During Protect Your Home: From Deed to Ownership, participants will learn how to:

Understand the difference between a deed, title, mortgage, tax record, and property ownership

Identify whose name is currently shown in recorded property records

Locate and review basic property information through the County Assessor, County Treasurer, and County Clerk

Understand legal descriptions, deeds, mortgages, liens, releases, and other common property records

Recognize warning signs of possible title problems, including a deceased owner of record, missing deeds, unresolved liens, multiple generations of heirs, or conflicting ownership information

Learn what heirs property is and why unclear ownership can create challenges for families

Create a list of documents and information needed to address potential title concerns

Know when a property issue should be referred to a qualified legal professional

Roots & Roofs: A Shared Equity Experience brings together community leaders, policymakers, real estate professionals, lenders, and residents to explore how Community Land Trusts can expand affordable homeownership and strengthen neighborhoods across Oklahoma.

Hosted by the NHSOKLA Oklahoma Community Land Consortium, this interactive forum will discuss the shared equity housing model, explain how land trusts operate, and highlight how they can differ and can collaborate with land banks in addressing vacant properties and preserving long-term affordability.
